Senior Project Leader, The Aerospace Corporation

James Kaufman is a recently retired Senior Project Leader from The Aerospace Corporation’s Civil Systems Group. At Aerospace and previously with JPL, he specialized in the formulation of new space science mission and instrument concepts, related enabling technologies, and associated proposal development. During his career at JPL, he served in various line and program management roles. Prior to that, he performed science mission operations and planning support for the imager on the Galileo mission to Jupiter, and the Active Cavity Radiometer Irradiance Monitor (ACRIM), a series of Earth-orbiting, solar physics instruments. A recipient of five NASA Group Achievement Awards, he received an AB in Physics and Astronomy from UC Berkeley, and an MS and PhD in Physics from Caltech.
