Dr. E. Joseph Nemanick is a Senior Research Scientist at The Aerospace Corporation FFRDC specializing in next generation approaches to designing and regulating energy storage systems for spacecraft. Dr. Nemanick is a NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts Fellow for the project APPLE, a small, modular isotope agnostic radioisotope thermoelectric power system design, to enable planetary and deep space missions within the current isotope constraint environment.

Dr. Nemanick has developed new space energy storage technology pioneering new reaction mechanisms for the lithium-oxygen battery, new electrode designs for the lithium-sulfur battery, and non-destructive diagnostics of lithium ion battery failures. Dr. Nemanick is also developing smart regulation and monitoring hardware for spacecraft applications using wireless communication and control.
