Dr. David Leisawitz, a Research Astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, is motivated by the quest to understand how habitable conditions develop during the planet formation process, and how galaxies formed and developed throughout cosmic history. He led a 2004 study of the Space Infrared Interferometric Telescope (SPIRIT) and was PI for the Wide-field Imaging Interferometry Testbed. He served as NASA Study Scientist for the Origins Space Telescope, Mission Scientist for the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), and Deputy Project Scientist for the Cosmic Background Explorer (COBE). He is currently Associate Chief of the Exoplanet Science Laboratory at Goddard Space Flight Center and actively engaged in laying the foundation for a far-infrared interferometry mission.
