Associate Professor, University of Central Florida

Dr. Yajie Dong is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science & Engineering and the NanoScience Technology Center at the University of Central Florida, with a joint appointment at CREOL, the College of Optics and Photonics. He earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Harvard University and completed his postdoctoral training at MIT. Dr. Dong’s research focuses on nanomaterials and optoelectronic devices, including perovskite-polymer composites, quantum dot light-emitting devices (QLEDs), and photomedical applications. He is the founder and Chief Scientific Officer of QLEDCures LLC, a startup commercializing QLED-based photomedical systems. His expertise includes developing stable perovskite materials for display, lighting, and radiation detection, as well as pioneering QLED applications for antimicrobial photodynamic therapy and wound healing. Dr. Dong has extensive experience in technology transfer, with multiple patents and successful SBIR/STTR awards from NSF, DoD, and DARPA. His work intersects with advancements in advanced materials, space-based sensing, and energy systems.
