Kristof Richmond is the Chief Technology Officer of Sunfish, Inc. He completed his Ph.D. at the Stanford University Aerospace Robotics Lab working on robotic visual mapping, navigation, and control. He then started working concurrently with several small aerospace companies including with Frontier Astronautics on low-cost, robust rocket designs and with Stone Aerospace on a variety of astrobiology technology development projects, including underwater, through-ice, and cryogenic exploration robotic technologies. Dr. Richmond has taken advanced robots into a variety of extreme environments, from caves in Namibia to under the McMurdo Ice Shelf in Antarctica. He has been involved with the development of the highly maneuverable autonomous underwater vehicle SUNFISH® from its beginnings at Stone Aerospace, and now continuing at the spin-out Sunfish, Inc.

Dr. Richmond is fluent in English, German, and French and has working knowledge of Turkish, Danish, and Spanish. He is a member of the Marine Technology Society (MTS) and Senior Member of the IEEE.
