Gabriel Sutherland is a space technology professional specializing in AI/ML applications for aerospace, with extensive experience researching autonomous space debris remediation methods. Currently at Trillium Technologies, he manages teams of researchers developing cutting-edge AI models for Earth observation, Heliophysics, Lunar science, and more.
Previously, Gabriel worked in space domain awareness, and developed orbital AI systems for spacecraft detection and characterization in orbit. His work includes leading international collaborations on spacecraft prototype design for space debris remediation in Low Earth Orbit.
Gabriel's technical expertise extends to sounding rocket design through Oregon State's High Altitude Rocketry Team, where he contributed to aerodynamics modeling and recovery systems. He founded DroneON LLC, designing a heavy-lift UAS for precision agriculture and other industrial use cases. This design incorporated a modular system that allowed for adapting mission capabilities in the field.
A passionate amateur astronomer and astrophotographer, Gabriel holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Oregon State University. He speaks English, German, Brazilian Portuguese, and Mandarin Chinese.
